Our Mission this year focuses on the intersection of community support and systemic labor reform. We are dedicated to advocating for collective bargaining rights for farmworkers, ensuring those who feed the nation can afford to feed themselves. Furthermore, our commitment to advocacy extends outside of campus debate and into our local community, UNM Debate members look forward to volunteer opportunities to help those in need this season.

Restarted in 2025, after nearly 20 years away, the debate program’s goals are to build research and communication skills as well as facilitate principled, reasoned dialogue at UNM. As an activity, debate encourages students to improve their skills at public speaking, critical thinking, civic discussion, and media literacy.
